John has worked as an educator for over 15 years working with students in grades K-12. He has received high praise from parents for his work in helping students to read. John’s career is focused on providing highly effective reading programs to students with reading disabilities. John attends conferences and trainings regularly to ensure that he has the latest information and research on the best reading programs for struggling readers. John’s positive attitude and dedication help to make The Reading Station a special place for students to build academic skills and confidence in school.

Susan Stevens – Co-Owner and Director of Operations

Susan has worked with children in varying capacities for the past 25 years. She began her career in social work. Susan entered the field of education over fifteen years ago and has worked with students in grades K-12. Her dedication and commitment to education is well noted by both parents and colleagues. Her passion is teaching students to read and meet their full potential. Susan attends conferences and workshops to keep up on the latest reading research. Her organization, training skills, and dedication insure that students at The Reading Station are able to reach their goals.



Robin Hettler

B.S., Florida State University

After graduating from Florida State University in 2010, Robin began working as a teacher and a tutor at the Sea of Strengths Academy and The Reading Station. Robin has attended several International Dyslexia Association conferences, and has received specialized training in multi-sensory teaching strategies for students with dyslexia. As a passionate member of the SOSA family, Robin began the tradition of SOSA’s annual Mad Scientist Day, which built on her love of science. She has been the driving force behind many exciting events at SOSA such as the annual Spring Fling Field Day and Spirit Week. Robin brings a special blend of enthusiasm and creativity to her classroom, and is endlessly attempting to find new and creative ways for her students to learn and understand key concepts. Robin currently teaches students in Writing and Science classes.



Meryl Rizzo

B.A. City University of New York

Ms. Meryl has many years teaching English, History, Theater and Speech in Middle and High School before joining us at The Reading Station and Sea of Strengths Academy. Meryl became involved with students with learning differences because of her own children. “I can’t imagine anything more fulfilling and rewarding than inspiring students to accomplish goals they have always felt were out of their reach. Every day is a new challenge and an opportunity to share and teach subjects which I feel passionate about.” Meryl has attended Orton Gillingham training, and uses this knowledge to help build students’ skills in reading and spelling. Hard working, dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic are just a few words that describes Meryl’s work with students.

Brian started his career in Education as the Director of Student Activities for New Hampshire College. He also has 20 plus years running his own business and serving as a mentor in the community. Knowing the importance of education for all, Brian strives to share his passion for math and reading with his students. Brian has attended Orton-Gillingham training, and uses this knowledge to help his students succeed in reading. Brian cares deeply about his students, and works hard to make sure that they succeed.
